As war rages on in the Middle East, it’s worth remembering that Israel holds around 90 nuclear warheads. But how many does the U.S. hold, and how dangerous are they, really?

How Dangerous Are Nuclear Weapons?

2024

In partnership with Rehumanize International, I created a four minute explainer video which answers the question, “How dangerous are nuclear weapons?”

To commemorate the anniversaries of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings (August 6th and August 9th), I wrote, creative directed and animated this explainer video. The video lays out exactly how disastrous the decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan was, with plenty of context for viewers who may not have heard the full story before. It then takes the viewer to present day, where nuclear weapons have become much smaller and more powerful — to be used on a battlefield. After extensive research, collaborative storytelling with Rehumanize leadership and many hours of animation, this was the result.

This video is currently running (August 2024) along with accompanying Tik Tok content, email, and merchandise. The content is promoting the organization’s efforts to educate around war and peace, and the upcoming #nowar2024 conference by partner organization, World Beyond War. To accompany the video, we sent out an email to the Rehumanize audience, which included a link to a nuclear-themed T Shirt that I created last year.

Tik Tok

Look, I won’t pretend that I have any rizz, as the kids say. Fortunately, the memes came fairly easily.

 Apparel

Sometime last year (2023), I illustrated an anti-nuclear T Shirt for the Rehumanize Redbubble shop.

Email

I suggested an email push with the video, relevant merchandise, a link to the conference, and a general donation link. Maria put it all together!
