2019-2021
To accompany their nation-wide classroom presence with SMART Boards, SMART Tech created Funterra: an at-home independent learning product that pulls kids directly into its rich library of games and videos. When they came to us, the SMART team needed our help to create and brand the full product with their library of content to appeal to their elementary and middle school target audience.
The final Funterra product that the Conflare team completed for SMART was massive. We designed the logo and brand, gamified the site experience and designed the UI to be functional and inspire wonder. I led the design direction of the logo and all brand materials, including the full UI. I worked directly with the Creative and Technical Director on the strategy, planning and execution of the project (including frequent project-management). I art directed and led the visual and UX design process, contributed the majority of the design detail work and managed an internal and external production designer to create custom illustrations throughout the site, for which I set all of the styles. I led the UX design and collaborated with the senior engineer to prototype, test and implement complex search functionality. I partnered with the senior front-end developer to implement excellent accessibility features and responsive views.
I illustrated the Funterra achievement badges.
I illustrated the navigation iconography.

Post-launch, the Funterra team decided to capitalize on the amazing feedback they’d been getting from teachers. The email push was linked to content that the child engaged with that week, with recommendations from teachers to continue the education at home.
